My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received a free copy of this book from the author, Julia Suzuki, in exchange for an honest review. Receiving a free copy has in no way affected my review.

The Land of Dragor (the Gift of Charms) is a fantasy story set in the mystical land of Dragor, where dragons in all different sizes and colours live their lives away from the humans. Each dragon comes from a specific clan and each clan is specialized in certain things. One clan might be really athletic and physically strong, while the others are creative or wise. When Yoshiko is born, the shells of the egg he hatches from are multicoloured – something unnatural for dragons. Though Yoshiko is allowed to live, the information about his special birth are hidden from him and once Yoshiko himself starts changing to every colour in the rainbow, it is evident that a grand adventure awaits him.

Book review: Julie’s Butterfly by Greta Milán

Julie's ButterflyJulie’s Butterfly by Greta Milán

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When Julie and Bastian meet at a party, Julie can’t seem to figure Bastian out. He stands out — not because he’s rude towards her and hardly gives anyone the time of day, nor because he’s probably the most good-looking guy present – but because of one simple accessories. Bastian wears black, leather gloves and refuses to take them off or even so much as hint to why he’s wearing them in the first place. Talk about mysterious. Later, Julie finds out that Bastian suffers from a rare hereditary skin disease which makes him incredibly vulnerable. A bump against his arm causes his skin to be covered in blisters and wounds, and because of it, Bastian has become incredibly sheltered and mistrusting due to horrible and disgusted responses from people in the past. When him and Julie fall in love, Bastian is forced to face his inner demons and with it the terrible cruelty of the world.

Book review: Sleepers by Megg Jensen

Sleepers (The Swarm Trilogy, #1)Sleepers by Megg Jensen

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Many thanks to the author Megg Jensen and the publisher, DarkSide Publishing.

In the world of Sleepers, the first book in The Swarm Trilogy by Megg Jensen, there are people with fiery red hair, piercing blue eyes and magic and on the other hand there’s… the not-so-cool average folk. For years, there has been tension between the Fithians and the Dalagan – the Fithians being your average human folk and the Dalagan being a magical group of people who were conquered by the aforementioned. Lianne, a Dalagan adoptee and personal handmaiden to the Queen of Fithian, gets her world turned upside down when she turns sixteen and discovers that she is capable of the magic of her people. When the Queen gets accused of treason and is sent to the dungeons to await her execution, Lianne, enraged and capable to fight, has to make life-changing decisions to help save her dear royal friend.

Book Review (+ release day!): The Pandora Chronicles by Ryan Attard

The Pandora Chronicles (The Pandora Chronicles, #1)The Pandora Chronicles by Ryan Attard

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received a free copy of this book from Shannon Thompson on behalf of the author, Ryan Attard, in exchange for an honest review. Receiving a free copy has in no way affected my review.

The Pandora Chronicles tells the story in which an alien species left its imprint on some of the humans in the world. These individuals, known as Selects, carry around a DNA strand that make them different from the rest of the human population. With an alien race naturally come a ton of secrets, and in The Pandora Chronicles, the story is bustling with a secret society, orbs of world destruction and/or domination (I’d like ten) and two timelines mingling together.
